The UAE is gearing up to celebrate its 48th National Day with a three-day break and celebrations across the country. Among the dozens of events planned to mark the occasion are multiple fireworks displays and light shows.
From spectacular free displays to the world’s most famous light show, here are all of the events you need to know about:
1. Yas Island: Monday
It’s set to be a packed weekend on Yas Island, with National Day celebrations after the Abu Dhabi F1. To round off events on Monday, December 2, there will be a classic car parade, as well as a firework display at 9pm.
Throughout the day, there will be a number of live performances, ayala dancers and food stalls.

2. Dubai Festival City: Monday
The Imagine water and light show at Dubai Festival City will be different on National Day: on December 2, there will be a one-night-only display of Faces of the Nation. This will see the faces of people around the UAE displayed in lights above the dancing water. You can catch the show at 8pm and 10pm on Monday night.

3. Al Seef: Sunday and Monday
There will be two days of firework displays at Al Seef over National Day weekend, lighting up the skies over old Dubai. On Sunday, December 1 and Monday, December 2, a free firework display will take place at 8pm.

4. La Mer: Sunday and Monday
Head down to one of La Mer’s beachfront restaurants for a prime view of the area’s National Day firework display. On Sunday, December 1 and Monday, December 2, there will be a free fireworks display at 8.30pm.

5. The Pointe: Monday
Set against the backdrop of the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai’s The Pointe will be hosting its first UAE National Day celebrations. At 8pm on Monday, December 2, there will be great views from The Pointe’s many restaurants of a stunning free firework display.

6. Global Village: Monday
Dubai’s Global Village will be celebrating UAE National Day in style, culminating with a huge firework display on Monday, December 2. Taking place at 9pm, visitors will be able to cap off an evening of fun with a UAE-themed display.

7. The Beach JBR: Sunday and Monday
The Beach JBR will be hosting two firework displays to mark UAE National Day over the holiday weekend. On Sunday, December 1 and Monday, December 2, there will be a free display taking place at 9pm.

8. Burj Khalifa: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
The world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, will mark UAE National Day with a special light display, which it will show between Sunday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 3. Each night, the Burj will light up in the colours of the UAE flag, while the fountains will dance to the tune of the UAE national anthem. The shows will start at 6pm and take place each hour on the hour until 10pm.

9. Abu Dhabi Corniche: Monday
Residents of the Capital are invited to the Abu Dhabi Corniche to join in the Spirit of the Union celebrations on Monday, December 2.
There will be pyro flyboard performers and pyro jet-sky performances as well as a laser and light show. The fun-filled event will kick off at 8.30pm on the A’l Bahar beachside area with a spectacular 10-minute dancing fireworks show over the water – the first of its kind taking place in this location.

10. Zayed Heritage Festival: Monday
Those living in and around Al Wathba can enjoy the celebrations with exhibitions and local and international music at Zayed Heritage Festival. Finally, watch the skies light up with a fireworks show scheduled at 8pm, behind Gate 2.
